In short
DetectMe does not collect, store remotely, or transmit any personal data. It reads public signals on the http(s) tab you click, names the WordPress theme and builder locally, and shows the result in the popup. Nothing ever leaves your browser.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how the DetectMe browser extension, published by DuaLab, handles information. In short: it does not collect any data about you. Its single purpose is to name the WordPress theme, page builder, and known plugins of the website tab you choose, or another CMS when the site is not WordPress, so you can decide how to quote the work.
2. Data We Collect
None. DetectMe does not collect, log, or transmit any personal or usage data to us or to anyone else. It has no accounts, no analytics, no servers, and makes no network requests of any kind.
3. Permissions We Use
Three, and only what each is named for. “activeTab” gives temporary access to the tab you are looking at, granted by your click on the toolbar icon, so the extension can read that tab’s URL and refuse non-web pages. “scripting” lets the bundled detector scripts run in that same tab, on that same click, to read public page signals such as generator tags and asset paths. “storage” keeps your light/dark preference and a short list of recent scans (host name and CMS name) in Chrome’s local extension storage on this device. The extension requests no host permissions and no all-sites access, which is why installing it shows no permission warning.
4. Page Content
Public HTML, runtime globals, and same-origin response headers of the tab you clicked are read only inside that tab, only to name the CMS for the popup. They are not uploaded, transmitted, or stored on our servers. A short recent-scan list (host and CMS name, not the page HTML) may stay in chrome.storage.local until you clear it or remove the extension.
5. Third-Party Services
None. The extension contains no analytics, no trackers, no advertising, and no remotely hosted code. Everything that runs ships inside the reviewed package.
7. About Named Platforms
DetectMe is an independent tool. It is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Automattic, WordPress, Shopify, or any other platform it may name. Those names describe what a site is built with. Your use of those platforms remains governed by their own terms and policies.
8. Restricted Pages
Chrome blocks every extension from running on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, and the new tab page. On those, DetectMe cannot scan. That is a browser restriction, not a choice by this extension.
9. Children’s Privacy
The extension collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
