In short
RecordMe does not collect, store remotely, or transmit any personal data. It records the tab or screen you choose, optionally with microphone audio, and saves a video file to your downloads on this device. Nothing ever leaves your browser.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how the RecordMe browser extension, published by DuaLab, handles information. In short: it does not collect any data about you. Its single purpose is to record the browser tab or screen you choose and save a video file on your device.
2. Data We Collect
None. RecordMe does not collect, log, or transmit any personal or usage data to us or to anyone else. It has no accounts, no analytics, no servers, and makes no network requests for recordings.
3. Permissions We Use
Five, and only what each is named for. “activeTab” lets the extension read the URL of the tab you are looking at when you open the popup, so it can refuse chrome:// and other non-web pages for “This tab” mode. “tabCapture” captures video and audio from that tab after you press Start. “offscreen” keeps MediaRecorder running in a hidden document so capture continues after the popup closes. “storage” keeps your light/dark preference and last target/mic choices in Chrome’s local extension storage on this device. “downloads” saves the finished video into your downloads folder. Nothing these permissions touch is uploaded.
4. Recording Content
Pixels from the tab or screen you chose, and microphone audio if you enabled it, exist only in memory while recording and in the video file you download (MP4 when Chrome supports it, otherwise WebM). They are not uploaded, transmitted, or stored on our servers.
5. Third-Party Services
None. The extension contains no analytics, no trackers, no advertising, and no remotely hosted code. Everything that runs ships inside the reviewed package.
7. About Other Recorders
RecordMe is an independent tool. It is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Screen Studio, Loom, Zumie, or any other recorder it may be compared to.
8. Restricted Pages
Chrome blocks every extension from capturing chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, and the new tab page as a normal website tab. Use Screen mode, or open an http(s) site, for “This tab.”
9. Children’s Privacy
The extension collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new date above.
